Eligibility & Enrollment

  • Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered eligible:
     

    • Be 18 years of age or older - * Note: Culinary Program – 16 years of age or older

    • Be legally eligible to work in the United States

    • Possess a high school diploma or GED

    • Reside in an eligible county:

      • Bastrop County residents may qualify under the St. David’s ECO Grant

      • Residents of Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette or Lee Counties may qualify under other funding source

  • The minimum age required is 18 years old.

  • Yes, one of the requirements for eligibility is to possess a high school diploma or GED.

  • To be eligible for our programs, applicants must be U.S. citizens or have legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Enrollment in skill-building programs helps fulfill work search requirements, and employers will interview based on the specific skills they need, so being unemployed or on benefits does not prohibit you from applying.

  • It depends on the occupation or career pathway. Please contact us for more information.

    • Culinary Program:

      • Yes, restaurants may require background checks and drug screenings. While these are not always legally mandated, requirements vary by position, company policy, and location.

    • Healthcare Program:

      • Yes, healthcare employers may require background checks and drug screenings. Requirements vary by position, employer policy, and state or federal regulations.

Program Costs & Financial Support

  • Depending on the grant (for example, a participant might qualify for equipment and/or wrap-around services).

  • Yes, most certifications are recognized by employers.

  • The goal for career training programs is placement into a prevailing wage job ($17-$19.00 per hour)

  • Yes, employers are involved in the program.

Student Support & Benefits

  • Yes, a case manager is assigned to the program.

  • Please speak with your benefits provider. You must report all work and earnings, which may reduce or affect your eligibility for benefits you are receiving.
