A Journey Fueled by Family

Julio came from Cuba to the United States with one goal in mind: to give his family a better life. To make ends meet, he worked tirelessly as an Uber driver—driving days, nights, and weekends—doing whatever it took to support his family.

Taking the First Step Toward a New Career

In January 2024, Julio came to Career Tracks Training Center to inquire about the CDL program alongside his friend Álvaro, who is also from Cuba. Both men committed themselves to the process, completing the required steps to obtain their CLP, successfully finishing the course, and ultimately earning their CDL licenses.

Overcoming Language Barriers Through Determination

One of the biggest barriers Julio faced was the language barrier, but it never stopped him. Through determination, hard work, and perseverance, he continued to push himself forward.

Building a Future—Literally

After earning his CDL, Julio applied with TEXMIX and was soon hired. In a full-circle moment, when the Career Tracks Training Center was under construction, Julio was one of the concrete drivers who delivered concrete to the job site—helping build the very place that helped change his life.
